Laurelville, Ohio – Jack Pine, the renowned glass artist, has unveiled his latest creation, the 2024 Mother’s Day Pumpkin, in support of ovarian cancer research. The exquisite pumpkin, adorned in iridescent shades of teal blue-green, serves as a symbol of solidarity with women battling ovarian cancer. Ten percent of all proceeds from its sales will contribute to ovarian cancer research through the Kline Family Fund for Ovarian Cancer Research at The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center – Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Richard J. Solove Research Institute (OSUCCC – James).

Pine, responding to a collector’s suggestion from last year, embarked on the creation of an annual Mother’s Day Pumpkin. This year’s design not only celebrates motherhood but also aims to raise awareness and support for those affected by ovarian cancer.

Speaking about his inspiration behind the project, Pine shared, “For Mother’s Day, I really wanted to create a piece that lets us give back to the community, supporting an important cause that benefits women. One of our festival team members is a mother of two who was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. When I considered her story, and how much I love my own mom, it inspired me to design a piece that helps fund research for a disease that strikes so many moms and other women.”

The Mother’s Day Pumpkin will be exclusively available at the Glass Garden Art Festival, held from May 3rd to May 5th at Jack Pine Studio in the scenic Hocking Hills. The festival, which is free to attend, offers visitors a chance to explore thousands of vibrant hand-blown glass art pieces, including the coveted Mother’s Day Pumpkin. Festival-goers can also enjoy the works of over 30 other artists and vendors, showcasing an array of garden art, sculptures, wind chimes, and more.

Adding to the festivities, this year’s event introduces the “Taste of Morels” on May 3rd, where food trucks will serve gourmet small plate dishes featuring fresh morels. Guests can purchase advance tickets for $35 to sample these delectable creations and vote for their favorite dish.

With limited parking available on Saturday and Sunday, attendees are encouraged to carpool and reserve their parking spots in advance. Each reservation includes a $5 coupon towards any Jack Pine glass art purchase and an entry to win an exclusive set of the 2024 Mother’s Day Pumpkins, valued at over $500.
