CHILLICOTHE, OH — A man wanted on an outstanding theft charge was taken into custody Thursday afternoon following a routine patrol encounter on North Bridge Street.
According to a report from the Chillicothe Police Department, an officer patrolling in a marked cruiser near the intersection of Bridge and Main Streets spotted 32-year-old Joseph Willett at the local Speedway station around 3:35 p.m. on September 17.
Knowing Willett had an active warrant for his arrest, the officer detained him and verified the warrant (CRB2601212) using his Social Security number. The active warrant stems from a prior charge of theft without consent.
Willett was placed under arrest and transported without incident to the Ross County Jail, where he was officially served with the warrant and original theft charge.
