Chillicothe, OH, June 15, 2024 – A house fire erupted around 12:29 pm on Saturday, June 15th in the 15000 block of SR 772, leading to a significant emergency response. Fire departments from around the area were called in for manpower and tanker trucks.

Upon arrival, the Deputy found the Scioto Fire Department battling the flames that had engulfed the house. The homeowner was found at the back of the property. He reported that he woke up to the smell of smoke and discovered a fire in the corner of his room. He quickly alerted everyone in the house to evacuate and called 911.

Neighbors reported that the fire broke through the roof of the home. Damage was not contained to just one room where the homeowner reported that the fire had started but spread to several rooms and the roof of the home causing extensive damage throughout. Even though part of the structure was saved, this most likely will be a total loss.

Sadly the homeowner does not have home insurance, to the heavily damaged home.

The Scioto Fire Department, along with several other departments responded with water tankers, to fight the blaze and has not yet determined the cause.
