Hocking County Sheriff Lanny E. North reports:

December 19, 2020
Deputies responded to a Henry St. Murray City residence for a domestic argument. No violence occurred and no charges were filed.

December 21, 2020
Deputies responded to a Maple St. Laurelville residence for a theft complaint. The complainant told deputies that someone tried to steal an inflatable yard decoration, but was unable to get it unsecured. The suspect then was able to steal another inflatable from the yard. Deputies were able to get security video of the theft and suspect. The case remains under investigation.

Deputies responded to a Thompson Rd. residence for a theft complaint. The complainant told deputies that someone cut the lock from a storage container and stole a miter saw. The case remains under investigation.

Deputies responded to a domestic violence complaint at a Lake Logan Rd. rental cabin. After investigation, deputies arrested Bobby L. Cumberlidge, 49, Louisville, OH and charged him with Domestic Violence and Assault and transported him to the SEORJ.

Deputies responded to a Hartsough Rd. residence for a domestic argument. No violence occurred and no charges were filed.

December 22, 2020
A Kreashbaum Rd. resident came to the Sheriff’s Office to file a report of identity fraud. The complainant told deputies that upon reviewing their credit report, they noticed a post office box is associated with their name. After investigation, it was determined there was no fraud involved and the complainant was going to work with post office officials to get their name removed from the post office box.

December 22, 2020
Deputies responded to a Union Rd. residence after a neighbor filed a complaint of animals at large. The deputy did not find any animals at large, but spoke with the animal owners and told them of the complaint. The owners assured the deputy that they would keep the animals secure. Later, deputies again responded to the Union Rd. residence for another complaint of animals at large. The deputy did not observe any animals in the roadway or at large.

Deputies responded to Hawk St. Carbon Hill after a passerby found an elderly person lying in the roadway. Deputies located the person and summoned HCEMS. HCEMS transported to HVCH for treatment and evaluation.

Deputies responded to a Thompson Rd. residence for an identity fraud complaint. The complainant told deputies that a family member had obtained three credit cards in their name. The complainant told deputies that this was discovered when they had been contacted by a collection agency.

Deputies responded to a Bigham Rd. residence for a domestic violence complaint. The suspect was not present at the scene and deputies opened an investigation and began looking for the suspect. A short time later, the victim called 911 and reported that the suspect had returned. When deputies arrived the suspect had fled again, but was located by an ODNR Park Officer on SR 374. The Park Officer conducted a traffic stop and deputies arrived a short time later. The victim had told deputies that the suspect was most likely armed with a pistol. After arresting the suspect, deputies found a loaded .45 long Colt revolver and suspected methamphetamine and paraphernalia in the vehicle. Deputies arrested Ty D. Garrett, 40, Rockbridge and charged him with Felonious Assault, F2, Domestic Violence, M1, Improperly Handling a Firearm in a Motor Vehicle, F4, Possession of Drugs, F5 and Violating a Protection Order, M1. Garrett was transported to the SEORJ.

A Buena Vista Rd. resident came to the Sheriff’s Office to turn in a firearm they found on the roadway on Buena Vista Rd. The firearm was placed into evidence for safekeeping.

Deputies responded to a business on Freeman Rd. where the complainant told deputies that several catalytic converters had been cut from vehicles. The case remains under investigation.

A SR 56 resident came to the Sheriff’s Office to file a theft complaint. The complainant told deputies that they have noticed several items over the past year have come up missing. The complainant provided deputies with a suspect. The case remains under investigation.

December 24, 2020
Deputies responded to a Keifel Rd. residence for a domestic violence complaint. The suspect had left prior to the deputy’s arrival. Charges for Domestic Violence and Assault were forwarded to the Prosecutor’s Office with a request for a warrant.

Deputies took a report of criminal damaging that occurred on Smith Chapel Rd. The complainant told deputies that they were attending a get together with friends when they noticed that the vehicle had been damaged.

Deputies cited Ashley Gilbert, 35, Union Furnace for Animals at Large. Gilbert has had prior warnings and citations for the same offense.

December 25, 2020
Deputies responded to a Blosser Rd. residence for a person in distress. HCEMS transported to HVCH for treatment and evaluation.

December 25, 2020
Deputies responded to a State Forrest Rd. residence for a domestic argument. Deputies transported a person to Rockbridge to await a ride. No charges were filed.

Deputies responded to an Adams Ave. residence for a domestic violence complaint. The complainant told deputies that the suspect arrived at the residence and was banging on the windows and doors wanting to be let inside. The victim wouldn’t let the suspect inside and when they opened the door to tell them to leave they were assaulted. The suspect fled the scene. Deputies forwarded charges for Domestic Violence and Assault to the Prosecutor’s Office along with a request for a warrant.

Deputies responded to a Mill St. residence and investigated a hit skip crash. The complainant told deputies that they had heard a disturbance overnight and came out in the morning to find their vehicle had been hit.

December 27, 2020
Deputies responded to a Cherry Crest Dr. residence for an overdose. HCEMS transported to HVCH for treatment.

December 28, 2020
A resident came to the Sheriff’s Office to report that their debit card had been used for over a thousand dollars and an attempt had been made at a business in Hillard, OH for several hundred, but had been declined. The complainant has contacted their banking institution. The case remains under investigation.

Deputies responded to a SR 56 residence for a domestic argument. When deputies arrived, one party had fled because they have an active arrest warrant. Deputies were told no violence occurred and no other charges were filed.

Deputies responded to a Barker Lane residence for an overdose. Deputies found a female unconscious and her breathing was erratic. Deputies administered three doses of Naloxone over a short time period while waiting for the arrival of HCEMS and the female regained consciousness. The female admitted to using fentanyl. HCEMS transported to HVCH.

December 28, 2020
Deputies learned of a dog bite that had occurred on December 24th. Deputies spoke with the victim and went to speak with the dog’s owner. No contact was made with the owner and request was left to contact the Dog Warden. When no one contacted the Dog Warden, he seized the dog to hold it for the quarantine period.

A Stump Run Rd. resident reported to deputies that their Rumpke trash can was stolen.

December 30, 2020
Deputies responded to a Greasy Ridge Rd. residence for a domestic violence complaint. During the investigation, deputies Kristen Williams, 38, Logan for Disorderly Conduct by Intoxication. Williams was transported to the SEORJ for a 6 hour hold.

January 1, 2021
Deputies responded to a SR 93 residence for a theft complaint. The complainant told deputies that a relative had taken keys for an ATV and a pickup truck. The case remains under investigation.

Deputies responded to a Moore Rd. residence for a domestic argument. Deputies cited Robert L. Horner, 48, Logan and Trevor L. Horner, 18, Logan for Disorderly Conduct by Intoxication.

A Morris Rd. resident came to the Sheriff’s Office to report the theft of a package from their mailbox. The complainant told deputies that they were expecting a package and found the empty packaging inside the mailbox. The complainant told deputies that they heard a loud vehicle prior to the theft.
