Hocking County Sheriff Lanny E. North reports:
January 31, 2020
An employee of a local business came to the Sheriff’s Office to report a theft. The employee told deputies that while at work the vehicle was parked on Freeman Rd. and several tools were stolen from the vehicle. Deputies will review surveillance video. The investigation is ongoing.—–
February 2, 2020
Deputies responded to a suspicious vehicle complaint at a Buffalo Rd. residence. After locating the vehicle and conducting an investigation, deputies charged Ryan V. Founds, 21, Lancaster with Criminal Trespass and Criminal Damaging for mud running on the property without permission.—–
February 5, 2020
Deputies responded to Lost Hollow for a theft complaint. Deputies have obtained evidence and identified suspects. The case remains under investigation.—–

A Walnut Dowler Rd. resident came to the Sheriff’s Office to report an incident of menacing.—–
February 6, 2020
Deputies responded to a 911 call of an active burglary at a Hilderbrandt Rd. residence. When deputies arrived they detained two individuals. After investigation, deputies charged Christopher J. Skinner, 46, Logan and Chad A. Kratzenberg, 36, Logan with Burglary. Both were transported to the SEORJ.—–
February 6, 2020
Deputies received a tip of a possible stolen vehicle on Laurel Run Rd. When deputies arrived the vehicle was occupied by two people. One fled into the woods on the deputy’s arrival, but deputies detained the second person. The vehicle was stolen from Perry County. The vehicle was impounded and the case remains under investigation.—–
February 7, 2020
Deputies investigated a single vehicle crash on U.S. 33 at Buena Vista Rd. The driver, attempting to slow to turn from U.S. 33 to Buena Vista, lost control due to the road conditions and slid off of the roadway. There were no injuries.—–

Deputies conducted a traffic stop on U.S. 33. While interviewing the driver and passenger, deputies saw a small bag of marijuana fall to the ground. After searching the vehicle a marijuana pipe and additional marijuana were found. The driver Brandon Amorine, 30, Nelsonville, was cited for Driving Under Suspension and Drug Paraphernalia. The passenger, Brian Musick, 54, Nelsonville was cited for possession of marijuana.—–

A Murphy Rd. resident came to the Sheriff’s Office to file a report of a scam they had received through the mail. The victims had received a check, asked to deposit it and keep some money and send pictures of money orders they were told to purchase with the rest. The victims did not do any of what was requested as they knew it was a scam.—–

A Homer St. resident came to the Sheriff’s Office to report a possible theft of mail. Deputies spoke with the other party and it was agreed that any mail would be forwarded to the Sheriff’s Office in the future to the complainant.—–

Deputies responded to a SR 328 residence where the complainant told deputies that a pitbull had attacked their animals while in the pasture. Deputies provided the owner with veterinarians who do farm calls and how to care for the wounds until the vet arrives. The pit bulls in the area were checked and not involved. The report was forwarded to the deputy dog warden for follow up.—–
February 8, 2020
Deputies responded to a 911 call of a domestic violence complaint at a SR 56 residence that could involve a firearm. While responding to the call, another 911 call was received from a neighbor as the incident continued outside. Pickaway County Sheriff’s Deputies had been close by and responded, taking the suspect into custody. HCSO deputies arrived a short time later and after an investigation, deputies arrested Tyler W. Auflick, 36, Laurelville and charged him with Domestic Violence, Assault, Disorderly Conduct and Aggravated Menacing. Auflick was transported to the SEORJ.—–
February 8, 2020
Deputies responded to a domestic violence complaint at a Hayden Place Apartment. When deputies arrived they saw the suspect, Kevin J. Kromer, 46, kicking the victim in the head and torso area. Kromer was taken into custody immediately. While investigating the matter the other party, who was highly intoxicated became combative with deputies. She was taken into custody for disorderly conduct by intoxication. While being taken into custody, she spat on and head butted a deputy. Both were transported to the SEORJ. A very young child was in the home and was taken by a family member. The report was forwarded to Children’s Services.—–

Deputies responded to a Pike St. residence for the theft of a motor vehicle. The victim told deputies that an acquaintance is believed to taken the vehicle since the keys were missing from inside the residence. The vehicle was entered into NCIC as stolen. Later, Ross County Sheriff’s Office located the vehicle. The victim was notified of where to pick the vehicle up. The case remains under investigation.—–

Deputies responded to a domestic argument at a Mohler Rd. residence. No violence occurred and no charges were filed. The parties agreed to separate for the night.
