Hocking County Sheriff Lanny E. North reports:

March 20, 2022
Deputies responded to Little Cola Road to a report of domestic violence. It was reported that a male subject struck his girlfriend in the head several times. Statements were obtained and evidence was collected. The male subject was arrested and taken to the South Eastern Ohio Regional Jail.

Deputies responded to Monarch Lane to a report of domestic violence. It was reported that a male subject had assaulted the caller’s daughter. The male subject left prior to the Deputies’ arrival. Injuries were observed on the female victim. Statements were taken and evidence was collected. Charges were filed with the Hocking County Prosecutors Office to obtain a warrant for the arrest of the male suspect.

Deputies handled a complaint from a subject who called into the Sheriff’s Office. It was reported a former boyfriend entered her residence and took his belongings out. The boyfriend did not have permission to enter the residence. He was later interviewed by Deputies. The case was forwarded to the Hocking County Prosecutors Office for review.

March 21, 2022
Deputies responded to Keota Road to a possible overdose. It was reported that a male subject may have taken a large number of illegal narcotics. Deputies made contact with the male subject. Deputies offered the male subject to be medically checked out by Medics from Hocking County Emergency Services, but he refused. It was also reported friends of the male subject administered Narcan twice to him prior to the Deputies’ arrival. A friend stated they would stay with the subject.

Deputies responded to State Route 374 to a report of a possible death. It was reported that a male subject had taken an unknown narcotic and was found deceased in his home. Hocking County Emergency Services along with Hocking County Coroners Office responded to the scene. The decedent was released to Heinlein Brown Funeral Home.

Deputies responded to Purdum Road to a report of domestic violence. It was reported that a male subject had pushed a female. Deputies located the female walking on Purdum Road. She stated there was only an argument with her husband and nothing was physical. Deputies spoke to the husband at the residence and he concurred with what the female stated. Deputies transported the female to another location and both parties were advised a report would be on file.

Deputies responded to Monarch Lane on a report of a male subject refusing to leave the residence. It was reported the male subject was trying to recover personal items from the residence. While Deputies were at the residence the male gathered his belongings and was advised not to return.

Deputies responded to Stage Road to a report of criminal damage. It was reported that a vehicle struck another in a driveway. Photographs were taken of the damage and statements were obtained. The parties involved were advised a report would be on file.

Deputies responded to Little Cola Road to a report of a civil issue. It was reported that there was a dispute over property. Deputies advised the complainant that the incident was civil but a report would be on file.

Deputies responded to Deible Road to assist Medics from Hocking County Emergency Services. It was reported that a male subject may have overdosed on narcotics. Deputies administered Narcan to the male subject. The male was transported to Hocking Valley Community Hospital for treatment.

Deputies responded to the Sheriff’s Office to a report of theft that occurred on Big Pine Road. It was reported that a son was stealing money from his mother. Statements were obtained and evidence was collected. The report was referred to the Hocking County Prosecutors Office for review.

Deputies responded to the area of State Route 180 to a report of a male subject who reported he had been abducted. The City of Columbus contacted the Sheriff’s Office regarding this incident. They initially received the call on this incident and based the location on the caller’s cell phone location. Deputies searched the area and deployed the Sheriff’s Office done to assist in locating the male. During the search, it was discovered the male subject was located in Columbus, Ohio.

Deputies responded to Old McArthur Road to a report of a stolen motor vehicle. It was reported that a 2005 Honda Shadow was stolen from the victim’s residence. The motorcycle was recovered by the Ohio State Highway Patrol in Deleware, Ohio.

Deputies responded to Walnut Dowler Road to a report of an unruly juvenile. It was reported a female juvenile had walked away from her residence. Deputies made contact with the juvenile while she was walking down the roadway. She was transported back to the residence. Deputies spoke to the juvenile’s mother and she stated the juvenile was having numerous issues with following rules. Deputies advised the juvenile to listen to her parents and not run away again.

Deputies assigned to the Hocking Valley Community Hospital responded to the Emergency Department to a subject in a mental health crisis. The male subject stated to family members that he wanted to harm himself. The male received mental health treatment.

Deputies responded to Haydenville Road to a report of disorderly conduct. It was reported there were people at a residence who were refusing to leave. Deputies spoke to the parties involved and advised them to leave. Deputies advised the subjects that they needed to solve their civil dispute in court and that a report of this incident would be on file.

Deputies responded to Haydenville Road to a report of menacing. It was reported a landlord was threatening his tenants. Statements were obtained and the parties involved were advised to contact the Sheriff’s Office if they have further issues.

Deputies responded to Parkway Drive to a report of breaking and entering. It was reported that someone broke into the complainant’s storage trailer. There were several items stolen. Evidence was collected and statements were obtained. The incident is still under investigation.

Deputies responded to State Route 278 to a report of threats. It was reported that juveniles on a school bus were threatening each other. Statements were obtained and the parents of the juveniles were spoken to. The videos from the school bus were reviewed. The incident has been sent to the Hocking County Prosecutors Office for charges.

Deputies assigned to the Hocking Valley Community Hospital responded to the Emergency Department to a report of a female in a mental health crisis. Deputies spoke to the female and she later received mental health treatment.

Deputies responded to State Route 595 to a report of domestic violence. It was reported that a female subject slapped her husband across his face. Evidence was collected and statements were obtained. The female was arrested and transported to Fairfield County Jail.

Deputies responded to Parkway Drive to a report of domestic violence. It was reported a female subject started an argument and assaulted her ex-boyfriend who she has a child with. The female subject left the residence prior to the Deputies’ arrival. She was later located and a statement from the female was taken. Statements were collected and evidence was collected. The female was arrested and transported to the South Eastern Ohio Regional Jail.

Deputies were responded to Whitetail Drive at Evening Drive to a report of an unresponsive male. Deputies assisted Medics from Hocking County Emergency Services. The male subject was transported to Hocking Valley Community Hospital for treatment.

A complainant came to the Sheriff’s Office to report an incident of harassment. It was reported that the complainant’s juvenile daughter received harassing texts on her phone from an unknown number. The same number sent a nude photograph of an adult female to his daughter. It texts appear to be a scam. The complainant requested a report be filed.

Deputies responded to Chieftain Drive to a report of a dog running at large. It was reported that a dog attacked the victim’s 4h rabbits. The victim shot the dog while it was attacking the rabbits. Deputies made contact with the dogs’ owner. The incident was forwarded to the Dog Warden for review.

Deputies responded to State Route 56 to a report of theft. It was reported that items were stolen from the victim’s property. Evidence was collected and a statement was obtained. The incident was forwarded to the Hocking County Prosecutors Office for review for charges.

Deputies responded to Lowery Road to a report of criminal damaging. It was reported that someone burnt a camper beside the complainant’s culvert causing damage. Statements were collected and the incident is still under investigation.

Deputies responded to Kreashbaum Road to a report of an unresponsive male. Medics from Hocking County Emergency Services were on the scene and advised Deputies that the male subject was deceased. The decedent was released to Robert’s Funeral Home.

Deputies responded to Bradford Drive to a report of a possible domestic violence. It was reported that a male subject was holding his wife hostage at gunpoint. Deputies were able to get the female out of the residence. The male subject later came out of the residence. Both parties were interviewed and appeared to be intoxicated. It was determined that no domestic violence occurred. The parties were separated for the night.

March 25, 2022
A complainant came into the Sheriff’s Office to report a theft. It was reported that the complainant’s dog was stolen from her yard. Deputies made contact with the suspect at his residence. The incident was forwarded to the Hocking County Dog Warden.

March 26, 2022
Deputies assigned to the Hocking Valley Community Hospital responded to the Emergency Department. It was reported a female subject tried to harm herself. Deputies spoke to the female and she later received mental health treatment.

Deputies responded to State Route 93S to a report of a domestic verbal dispute. It was reported a male subject got into an argument with his mother. Deputies spoke to both parties involved. The male subject decided he would go to his father’s residence for the evening.
