Hocking County Sheriff Reports for Week of April 17th

April 17, 2022 Deputies responded to West Street to a report of domestic violence. It was reported that a female and male were in an argument while sitting inside a vehicle outside the residence. It was then reported the female subject was swinging a knife or hatchet at the male subject. Deputies made contact with the subjects involved. They were able to recover the hatchet and spoke to the parties involved. The incident was also recorded on a cell phone by another witness. The female subject was arrested and transported to Southeastern Ohio Regional Jail and charges were filed with the Hocking County Prosecutor’s Office. The male subject was found to have a warrant for his arrest. He was transported to the Fairfield County Jail.

April 17, 2022 Deputies responded to Harvey Chapel Road to a report of criminal trespassing. It was reported that a female subject and her dog walked across the complainant’s land. Deputies were able to make contact with the suspect and she agreed to stay off the complainant’s land.

April 17, 2022 Deputies responded to Bear Run Road to a report of an overdose. It was reported that a male subject had taken an unknown narcotic. Personnel from the Marion Township Fire Department and Hocking County Emergency Services were on the scene treating the subject. He was transported to Hocking Valley Community Hospital and was later pronounced deceased by the Emergency Department Doctor. Evidence of drug abuse and paraphernalia was located by the Deputies. Statements were obtained and evidence was collected.

April 17, 2022 Deputies responded to State Route 664N to a report of an assault. It was reported a fight took place between neighbors. Deputies spoke to the parties involved. Evidence was collected and statements were obtained. The incident has been forwarded to the Hocking County Prosecutor’s Office for review.

April 18, 2022 Deputies responded to Hocking Valley Community Hospital on a report of a missing juvenile. The City of Toledo Police Department requested the Sheriff’s Office to check on a missing male juvenile from their city. Deputies were advised the grandparents picked the juvenile up at his residence in Toledo and brought him back to Hocking County. The male juvenile contacted his grandparents to pick him up due to he didn’t feel safe with his father who struck him. Children’s Services from both Hocking and Lucas Counties were contacted. It was determined to release the juvenile into his father’s custody. The juvenile was picked up at the hospital.

April 18, 2022 Deputies responded to State Route 327 to a report of a natural death. It was reported a male subject at the residence may have succumbed to a medical condition. Medics from the Hocking County Emergency Services and Colerain Township were on the scene. The Hocking County Coroner was contacted and the decedent was later released to Hills Funeral Home.

April 18, 2022 Deputies responded to Dawley New Pittsburg Road to a report of a suspicious vehicle. It was reported that driver of the vehicle had brandished a firearm at the complainant. The vehicle pulled into the complainant’s driveway and when the complainant confronted him, the driver brandished the firearm. The vehicle drove away and the complainant was unable to get the license plate number.

April 18, 2022 Deputies responded to Shriner Street to a report of an unruly juvenile. It was reported a male juvenile was not listening to his mother. Deputies spoke to the mother and the juvenile. A statement was obtained from the mother. She was advised a report would be on file.

April 18, 2022 Deputies responded to Hayden Place Apartments to a report of a verbal domestic dispute. It was reported that an argument between husband and wife occurred. Deputies spoke to both parties. They stated it was only verbal and there were no threats made. Deputies requested the parties to separate for the evening.

April 19, 2022 Deputies responded to Bobo Road to a report of trash dumping. It was reported several bags of trash were left beside her dumpster and in her yard. Evidence was collected and statements were obtained. The incident is still under investigation. April 19, 2022Deputies assigned to Hocking Valley Community Hospital responded to the Emergency Department to a report of a male subject in a mental health crisis. Deputies spoke to the male subject. He received mental health treatment.

April 19, 2022 Deputies responded to Old McArthur Road to a burglary. It was reported that someone tried to enter the complainant’s residence. Statements were obtained and evidence was collected. The incident is still under investigation.

April 20, 2022 Deputies responded to Burgoon Road to a report of domestic violence. It was reported that a male juvenile and his brother got into a fight. Deputies spoke to the parties involved and obtained statements. The juveniles were separated for the evening. Charges were filed with the Hocking County Prosecutor’s Office.

April 20, 2022 Deputies located a disabled vehicle on Chieftain Drive. During the Deputies’ encounter with the driver, it was discovered he had a warrant for his arrest. The driver was arrested and transported to the Southeastern Ohio Regional Jail.

April 21, 2022 Deputies responded to Pike Street to a report of a shooting. It was reported that a male subject had shot himself in his foot while mishandling a firearm. The subject was transported to Adena Hospital before the Deputies’ arrival. During the investigation, it was discovered that the incident took place in Fairfield County. Fairfield County Sheriff’s Office was notified.

April 21, 2022 Deputies responded to West to a report of a disturbance. It was reported that two male subjects were in a verbal altercation. During the investigation, it was determined that one of the male subjects had a warrant for his arrest out of Logan Police Department. The male subject was transported to the Logan Police Department. Both parties were warned for disorderly conduct.

April 21, 2022 Deputies responded to Taos Lane to a report of a stolen vehicle. It was reported the complainant’s vehicle had been taken from her residence. The person who took the vehicle texted the complainant and stated he was driving the vehicle to the state of Georgia and would drop the vehicle off at a former job site. The vehicle was entered stolen in the National Crime and Information Center (NCIC).

April 21, 2022 A complainant came to the Sheriff’s Office to report a custody issue. It was reported the mother of the child refused visitation for the father. A statement was obtained and the complainant was advised to contact her attorney. A report was filed. April 21, 2022Deputies responded to Shriner Street to a report of a delinquent juvenile. It was reported a male juvenile stole a pack of cigarettes from an undetermined place. The juvenile stated to Deputies that a friend gave him the pack as they were walking to the park. Deputies spoke to the juvenile and a report was filed.

April 22, 2022 Deputies responded to Drummon Drive to a report of a person in a mental health crisis. It was reported a female subject was acting erratic and was not taking care of herself. The female was transported to Hocking Valley Community Hospital for treatment.

April 22, 2022 Deputies responded to State Route 664s to a report of theft. It was reported that several items were stolen from the complainant’s property. Evidence was collected and a statement was obtained. The incident is still under investigation.

April 22, 2022 Deputies were flagged down on Zanesville Avenue by a female subject. It was reported she was involved in a domestic violence incident. Deputies contacted Logan Police Department which handled the incident.

April 22, 2022 Deputies responded to Hocking Drive to report of an assault. It was reported a health care worker was assaulted by one of her clients. Evidence was collected and statements were obtained. The incident has been forwarded to the Hocking County Prosecutor’s Office for review.

April 22, 2022 Deputies responded to Central Avenue to a report of a violation of a protection order. It was reported a female subject was violating a protection order by being at a restricted residence. When Deputies made contact with the female she had cut her wrist. Medics from the Hocking County Emergency Services were called to the scene to treat the female. She was transported to Hocking Valley Community Hospital for treatment. After she received treatments she was transported to Fairfield County Jail.

April 22, 2022 Deputies were dispatched to Wesley Drive to a report of domestic violence. It was reported a female juvenile had been assaulted by her mother. Deputies spoke to the juvenile and her mother. Evidence was collected and statements were obtained. The juvenile was transported to a relative’s residence. The incident is still under investigation and the incident was forwarded to the Hocking County Prosecutor’s Office.

April 22, 2022 Deputies responded to a two-car crash on State Route 180 at the US-33. It was reported a vehicle was traveling on State Route 180 when another vehicle pulled out from the stop sign at the exit ramp. The vehicle collided, causing damage to both vehicles. Evidence was collected and statements were obtained. A report was filed.

April 23, 2022 A subject came into the Sheriff’s Office to drop off a backpack that was left in a rental cabin. A search of the backpack resulted in locating a baggy of marijuana. The backpack and its contents were placed into evidence.

April 23, 2022 Deputies responded to Harris Road to a report of found property. It was reported that a firearm fell off a vehicle while traveling on Carbon Hill Buchtel Road. The firearm was recovered and placed into evidence.
