September 28, 2020
Deputies responded to a SR 56 residence for a breaking and entering complaint. The complainant told deputies that while they were gone, someone entered their garage and stole several items. The case remains under investigation.

Deputies investigated a single vehicle crash on SR 180 where the driver failed to maintain control on a curve, crossed the opposing lane of travel coming to rest in a ditch. The driver was cited for failure to control.

Deputies investigated a single vehicle crash where the driver, backing from a private driveway, backed into a culvert and struck a fence.

Deputies responded to a Poling Rd. address for a theft complaint. The complainant told deputies that tools had been stolen from a job site. The case remains under investigation.

A Cherry Crest Lane resident came to the Sheriff’s Office to report a vehicle stolen. The complainant had previously reported that after loaning the vehicle to another person, they failed to return the vehicle. They found and obtained the vehicle, but did not get the keys. The complainant believes that the person who had the keys has stolen the vehicle. The case remains under investigation.

October 1, 2020
A Starner Rd. resident came to the Sheriff’s Office and told deputies that the previous night, someone had shined a red laser into the residence and onto them. They believed the laser could have been from a firearm. The complainant asked for additional patrol of the residence.

Deputies responded to a domestic violence complaint at a SR 595 residence. After investigation, deputies arrested Olexia J. McBride, 22, Logan for Domestic Violence and Assault. McBride was transported to the SEORJ.

A Columbus resident reported to deputies that he was in an Uber car getting a ride to Columbus, when the driver stopped and told him to get out. The passenger complied, but left his phone and money in the vehicle. Deputies were able to arrange for a family member to come pick him up.

Deputies responded to a West St. residence for a burglar alarm. Deputies checked the residence and found it secure and did not find anyone in the area.

Deputies responded to a SR 374 residence after the complainant had returned home and found a vehicle in their driveway. After speaking with all the parties it was learned that the neighbor had parked at the end of the complainant’s driveway as they had contractors working at their residence and were blocking their driveway. No action was taken.

October 2, 2020
Deputies were summoned to U.S. 33 and SR 328 by Logan Police after they had been dispatched to a brush fire and found a person there smoking a pipe which they believed contained methamphetamine. Deputies seized the pipe that contained residue, to submit to the BCI crime lab for analysis and possible future charges.

October 3, 2020
Deputies responded to a domestic violence complaint at a Logan-Hornsmill Rd. residence. After investigation, deputies arrested and charged Thomas H. Berry, 47, Logan with Domestic Violence and Assault. Berry was transported to the SEORJ.

Deputies responded to a Voris Rd. residence for an assault complaint. The complainant told deputies that a neighbor had assaulted him, but he declined any charges.

A Garfield St. resident came to the Sheriff’s Office to report that their juvenile daughter had ran away again. This is the second time in a week. The juvenile was eventually located by Logan Police and turned over to the Sheriff’s Office. Juvenile Court personnel were summoned and the juvenile was transported to detention.

October 4, 2020
Deputies responded to Harper’s gas station in South Bloomingville and met with a complainant who told deputies that after making a purchase at the gas station, they left their wallet on the counter or on top of their vehicle. An employee called and the complainant was able to get the wallet returned, but it was missing several hundred dollars. Deputies are to review video surveillance footage.

October 4, 2020
Deputies responded to a Clapper Hollow Rd. residence for an argument between family members. No violence occurred and no charges were filed.

October 5, 2020
Deputies investigated a single vehicle crash in which the driver, exiting U.S. 33 at the Clear Creek Rd. gas station, exited too fast, lost control and struck a support pillar. The driver was cited for failure to control.

October 5, 2020
Detectives received a report from Berger Hospital that they were treating a gunshot wound for a Hocking County resident. After detectives began investigating, it was learned that the person shot their self accidently while cleaning their firearm in the City of Logan. The case was forward to Logan Police.
