The Teays Valley Educational Foundation awarded Teays Valley High School school counselor Pam Younkin a $2,000 grant to help fund the PreACT test for all sophomores.
“Teays Valley High School would like to thank the Teays Valley Education Foundation for their continued support of our students, staff and community. One of the Guiding Principles of Teays Valley is to do what is best for our students. TVHS makes many of our decisions with this guiding principle in mind. We want to make certain students have a plan after graduation, including enrolling in college, enlisting in the military or seeking employment,” Younkin said. “By providing students with the opportunity to improve test scores, doors may be opened that students never thought would be possible. With the assistance of this grant, we are providing 300+ students the ability to reach their career goals or to see possibilities they never thought could be part of their future. Improved ACT scores will provide students with the confidence to apply to college, encouragement to apply to their dream school, qualifications for additional financial assistance, and endless opportunities for success. Due to the generosity of the TVEF, sophomore students were able to participate in PreACT testing during Teays Valley’s College and Career Day. This testing opportunity allowed students increased practice and instruction with the intent to improve the average ACT scores for our students.”
