On August 31, 2022 at 9:31 A.M. Grove City Division of Police officers were dispatched to Monterey Elementary School on a report of an unloaded gun at the school. A student showed a teacher a gun he brought from home. The teacher immediately notified building staff and the police were called. The student did not make any threats to students, teachers, or staff. After ensuring the safety of everyone in the building, detectives spoke with all parties involved including the juvenile and parents. This case is under further investigation for any charges.
Here at the Grove City Division of Police we encourage all persons who take on the responsibility of gun ownership to take extra safety steps, especially when around children.
