
CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — Families throughout Ross County and southern Ohio will once again have the opportunity to enjoy free movies this summer as Danbarry Cinemas and the Chillicothe & Ross County Public Library kick off the 2026 Free Summer Movie Series.
The annual program begins Thursday, June 18, and will continue each Thursday morning through the end of July at Danbarry Cinemas, located at 119 Pawnee Road in Chillicothe. All movies will begin at 10 a.m.

The free series offers a lineup of family-friendly films designed to give children and parents an affordable way to stay entertained during the summer months.
This year’s schedule includes:
- June 18: K-POP Demon Hunters (Sing-along edition)
- June 25: Dog Man
- July 2: The SpongeBob Movie: The Search for SquarePants
- July 9: Smurf
- July 16: Minecraft Movie
- July 23: How the Grinch Stole Christmas
- July 30: How to Train Your Dragon
Theater doors will open one hour before each showing. Seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis and is not guaranteed, so organizers encourage guests to arrive early.
Concessions will be available for purchase during each event. Outside food and beverages are not permitted inside the theater.
The Free Summer Movie Series has become a popular tradition for local families, providing children with entertainment and activities during summer break while encouraging community engagement through the partnership with the public library.
