CHILLICOTHE — The Ohio State Highway Patrol has announced the promotions of four sworn personnel who reside in Ross County, showcasing the local career pathways and advancement opportunities available within the statewide agency.
The recent promotions span three lieutenants and one sergeant, reflecting assignments across patrol operations, professional standards, and advanced training:
- Lieutenant Bobby D. Brown was promoted from sergeant on June 28. A Chillicothe Post veteran, he transferred from the Athens Post to take on the role of post commander at the Chillicothe Post.
- Lieutenant Phillip M. Rutherford was promoted from sergeant on July 26. He will remain within the Office of Training, Recruitment and Professional Operations, continuing his service as commander of the Advanced Training Unit.
- Lieutenant Christopher J. Finley was promoted from sergeant on July 26, transitioning from his previous assignment at the Chillicothe Post to serve within the Office of Personnel, Professional Standards Unit.
- Sergeant Tyler L. Boetcher was promoted from trooper on July 26. He will stay at the Chillicothe Post to step into the role of assistant post commander.
State Highway Patrol officials noted that these appointments underscore the diverse career tracks available within the organization, ranging from frontline patrol operations to specialized statewide units and executive leadership.
