WCH – A former Kmart will get new life in Washington Courthouse when a Property Management company bought and marketed the location.

In April 20, 2021, the company listed the property up for lease as a 96,000 Square foot location that can be divisible. It wasn’t long before they found several interested parties.

Family Farm & Home was the first to take over around 36.000 sq foot of the building, Harbor Freight came in around September of 2021, and now the company has announced that it has filled the other 30,000 square foot location with Roses Discount Store.

Along with the Kmart building the property also included another 8,700 sq foot building that was leased to Dollar Tree.

The location is interesting also, 2027 Columbus Ave in Washinton Courthouse is on the cities Northside. When talking to the City of WCH economic Development they explained that they are seeing a resurgence in business on the north side of the City.

“We have a business growing on US35 on the south end of the city, new businesses occupying our historical area, and a resurgence of business on the Northside, we are growing everywhere.”

The Cities Development company made a specific example to the Kmart building

“This property can take on a new identity, and help deliver new life to this area of town.”

The development team said that they attribute this growth to the changing markets in the Grove City, Pickaway County, and Grove port areas that are seeing tons of growth in warehouses and population.

Pennmark’s CEO Don Cafiero had this to say “When we acquired this property several years back we saw the possibilities and believed in the market, through our persistent efforts the property is in line with our original vision”.

It is currently unknown when the newest business Roses will open for business in this location.
