Miami Trace Local Schools – A Miami Trace Local Schools student was airlifted to Nationwide Children’s Hospital Trauma Center in Columbus this afternoon after being struck by a vehicle.

According to the Fayette County Sheriff’s office Harrison Road was closed in both directions for an injury accident around 4 pm, it remained closed for an investigation for almost two hours.

According to the Record-Herald, the incident occurred as the student had just disembarked from a Miami Trace school bus on US 62 North between Harrison and Post roads. Fayette County Sheriff Vernon Stanforth reported that while one vehicle had stopped due to the school bus safety lights, a southbound pickup truck failed to stop, colliding with the stationary vehicle. That collision sent the stopped vehicle into the driveway where the student was resulting in the child being hit.

The student was then airlifted to Children’s Hospital in serious condition, two other people were injured and taken to local hospitals.
