Fairfield – Cast your rods to reel in Summer, sunshine, and some fish! This Sunday, celebrate National Go Fishing Day in proper fashion – on the waters in Fairfield County. Only 30 minutes from Columbus, Ross County, and Pickaway County, spend the day celebrating this unique holiday in conjunction with Father’s Day.

Grab your fathers + fishing lines and discover these spots:

  1. Buckeye Lake – A fisherman’s fishing spot! Historically stocked with crappie and bass from Lake Erie, this is thought to be one of the best fishing spots in Ohio.
  2. Jackson Lake Park – No fishing license needed here! Bring everybody along for a day of catch-and-release fishing. But if fishing isn’t your thing, check out disc golf, a water park and a splash cafe.
  3. Rock Mill Lake – One of the best local fishing spots for avoiding crowds! This off-the-beaten-path spot is 18 acres around and as deep as 25 feet. And if you are a blue-gill enthusiast, this is the place for you.

Better yet – fishing in Ohio is free without a license on June 17 and June 18. If none of the above pique your interest, check out many more Ohio fishing hubs here
