CIRCLEVILLE, OH — The Circleville Police Department remained in high gear through the end of April, responding to nearly 60 calls for service on Thursday, April 30, 2026. The day was marked by a notable uptick in fraud reports and a series of harassment complaints across the city.

Fraud and Theft Under Investigation

Financial crimes were a major focus for officers during the morning hours. Between 10:15 AM and 11:00 AM, police were dispatched to two separate fraud incidents—one on Greenacre Court and another on US 23. Formal reports were taken in both cases. Earlier that morning, a theft was also reported on Barry Drive, though that call was cleared without a formal report.

Waves of Harassment and Neighbor Disputes

The department handled a significant number of interpersonal conflicts throughout the day:

  • Morning: A neighbor trouble report was filed on Clark Drive, followed shortly by a threats and harassment report on East Mound Street.
  • Afternoon/Evening: Harassment complaints continued to roll in from South Scioto Street and Barry Drive, where officers took official reports. Similar calls on Sunset Drive, East Main Street, and Alma Avenue were also investigated and cleared.

Illegal Dumping and Nuisance Calls

Sanitation and city ordinances required police intervention twice on Thursday afternoon. While a trash dumping complaint on South Pickaway Street was cleared, a second complaint on Sumpter Avenue resulted in a formal police report. Officers also spent time attempting to locate owners for parking complaints on East Union and East Mill Street, though the vehicles were gone upon arrival.

Traffic Enforcement and Public Safety

The “Extra Patrol” initiative remains a staple of the night shift, with officers checking in on North Court, East Main, East Mound, and West Water streets in the pre-dawn hours.

In terms of traffic safety, a stop at Circleville Plaza Drive resulted in a formal report, while several other stops on East High Street, Lee Court, and South Pickaway Street ended with warnings. Public safety crews also responded to a Carbon Monoxide alarm on South Scioto Street just before midnight, which was fortunately cleared without incident.

Civil Process and Property

Officers were active in serving legal paperwork late Thursday evening. While attempts on South Pickaway Street and Third Avenue were unsuccessful, officers successfully served civil process papers on Kingston Court at 9:06 PM.
