CIRCLEVILLE – During the Committee of the Whole meeting on Tuesday Council along with City officials discussed the funding they will receive over the next two years from the American Rescue Plan.

The American Rescue Plan allows for funding anything that was taken out of the city budget due to COVID-related mitigation. Only a few things apply according to Circleville City Mayor Don McIlroy stated in Council Chambers on Tuesday.

Five items were identified at the meeting by multiple different members that were described as a priority. Fire station doors at Fired Department, upgrades to the City of Circleville communications center, upgrades to the HVAC at Municipal Hall, Renovation to the former Utility department on Franklin Street, and support for local charity possibility.

The funding will come in as 750,000 for two years. The city will have to create an ordinance that will direct the funding towards these issues.
