
CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — The Chillicothe Police Department responded to 21 calls for service on Monday, June 1, handling a demanding shift that included severe domestic violence allegations, multiple medical emergencies tied to substance use, and an OVI-related injury crash.
Violent Disturbances and Domestic Disputes
- Greenway Avenue Strangulation Call: At 10:29 a.m., officers rushed to a residence at 537 Greenway Avenue following a high-priority emergency call. Upon arrival, a formal investigation was launched into charges of Domestic Violence and Strangulation.
- East Water Street Dispute: Late Monday night, at 10:12 p.m., units responded to 574 East Water Street regarding an active domestic dispute. Responding officers documented the incident as a disorderly conduct offense and separated the parties.
- Rose Street Incident: Earlier in the day, at 10:53 a.m., police intervened in a domestic dispute at the intersection of East Main and North Rose streets. A non-criminal report was filed, and no charges were pursued at the scene.
Crashes, OVI Arrest, and Traffic Offenses
- West Water Street Injury Accident: At 11:12 a.m., emergency units were dispatched to 161 West Water Street following reports of a vehicle crash with potential injuries. Upon investigating, officers determined the driver was impaired, and the incident was processed as an Operating a Vehicle Impaired (OVI) offense.
- Vine Street Crash & License Violations: At 1:49 p.m., officers handled a separate crash investigation at 261 Vine Street. The driver involved was cited for driving under an FRA suspension (lack of insurance) and operating a motor vehicle with an obstructed view.
- Hit-Skip Investigation: Traffic officers are looking for a driver who fled the scene of a hit-and-run property damage crash reported at 293 South Renick Avenue at 10:27 a.m.
Overdoses and Mental Health Dispatches
Medical emergencies kept first responders and police units moving throughout the afternoon:
- Columbia Avenue Overdose: At 4:56 p.m., officers and EMS rushed to 148 Columbia Avenue regarding an active drug overdose. A disorderly conduct report was filed, and the investigation remains open.
- Columbus Street Medical Call: Early Monday morning, at 7:42 a.m., police were dispatched to Columbus Street after a female suspect was found drifting in and out of consciousness. The incident is being handled under public intoxication and disorderly conduct guidelines.
- Suicide Threat Intervention: At 5:10 p.m., officers were called to 502 Buckeye Street after family members reported that Dominic Dutcher was threatening suicide. Officers intervened to connect the individual with crisis resources.
- Enderlin Circle Seizure Call: At 2:29 p.m., police provided emergency backup to medical squads responding to a resident experiencing seizures at 19 Enderlin Circle.
Retail Thefts and Trespassing
- North Bridge Street Shoplistings: The retail corridor on North Bridge Street saw multiple theft complaints on Monday. At 1:42 p.m., an officer responded to a business in the 1200 block of North Bridge Street. Management is currently reviewing security footage to provide police with a full list of stolen items. A second, separate theft was documented minutes later at 1251 North Bridge Street at 2:56 p.m.
- Donut Shop Trespass: At 10:38 a.m., officers were called to Crispie Creme Donuts at 47 North Bridge Street. A disruptive individual was officially barred from the property under criminal trespass warnings. A similar unwanted subject call was handled at a business in the 200 block of East 2nd Street at 8:47 a.m.
The department also processed an active missing person report filed from 687 St. Margaret Road at 1:33 a.m., served outstanding arrest warrants to an individual inside the Ross County Jail at 5:26 a.m., and took an assault report at 28 North Paint Street at 8:03 p.m.
