CHILLICOTHE, OH — The Chillicothe Police Department had a high-volume Wednesday, responding to 20 incidents on April 29, 2026, including a missing juvenile from the local high school, a pursuit arrest, and a series of domestic disturbances across the city.
Juvenile and School Incidents
School safety and juvenile welfare took center stage Wednesday afternoon. At 5:09 PM, officers were dispatched to Chillicothe High School on Yoctangee Parkway regarding a missing juvenile. Earlier in the afternoon, a separate “unruly juvenile” complaint was filed on East 7th Street. Both investigations remain active.
Roadway Accidents and Pursuit Arrests
The morning commute saw a significant interruption when an injury accident occurred at the intersection of High and Chestnut Streets at 11:12 AM. The crash was cited as a failure to maintain an assured clear distance (ACDA).
Later in the afternoon, at 1:41 PM, a routine traffic stop on East Main Street escalated when a driver attempted to flee or elude officers. The pursuit ended on South Douglas Avenue, where the suspect was successfully taken into custody.
Disorderly Conduct and Domestic Violence
Police were stretched thin by a wave of domestic disputes and disorderly conduct calls that spanned nearly 24 hours:
- Morning: Officers responded to domestic calls on Caldwell Street (7:14 AM) and Elm Street (10:16 AM).
- Night: Violence was reported on Burbridge Street at 9:59 PM, followed immediately by another domestic dispute on Braewood Lane.
- Disturbances: Reports of disorderly behavior and suspicious persons kept units busy at local businesses, including the Holiday Inn Express on East Main Street, Buffalo Wild Wings on North Bridge Street, and the Amoco station.
Property Crimes and Enforcement
Vandalism and drugs also made the daily ledger. At 10:03 AM, a criminal mischief report was filed on South Walnut Street for property tampering, followed by another report late Wednesday night on Lincoln Avenue. Additionally, a traffic stop on South Douglas Avenue earlier in the day led to a summons for drug paraphernalia.
