CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — The Chillicothe Police Department released its daily media report on Saturday, outlining a variety of calls handled by officers on Friday, May 22, 2026. The 13 logged incidents included an early-morning domestic violence call involving a weapon, a hit-and-run investigation on East Main Street, and a trespassing complaint at a local hotel.

Early-Morning Domestic Feud Leads to Felonious Assault Investigation
The most severe call of the day occurred just after midnight at 12:29 a.m. Officers rushed to a residence at 14 Tomahawk following reports of a heated domestic dispute.

Upon arrival and initial assessment, police opened a formal criminal investigation into offenses involving Felonious Assault, Domestic Violence, and Aggravated Menacing. Details regarding suspects or injuries have not yet been disclosed as the probe remains highly active.

A second, unrelated domestic dispute drew officers to 506 Sherman Park later in the afternoon at 4:11 p.m. That incident is currently being reviewed for potential disorderly conduct charges.

Hit-and-Run and Vandalism Complaints
Property crimes and traffic incidents kept road patrol units moving through the afternoon:

East Main Hit-Skip: At 1:38 p.m., traffic units responded to a “Code 2” hit-and-run accident on East Main Street. Investigators are currently reviewing area surveillance video to identify the striking vehicle.

Bridge Street Vandalism: Officers were dispatched to a business at 37 N. Bridge Street at 5:31 p.m. regarding a vandalism complaint. A criminal mischief report was filed, and an investigation is underway.

Hampton Inn Trespass: At 3:18 p.m., management at the Hampton Inn, located at 100 N. Plaza Blvd., called police to remove an unwanted individual. Officers filed a criminal trespass complaint, and the investigation continues.

Assistance Calls and General Interventions
Chillicothe officers also provided mutual aid to county social workers and handled various neighborhood complaints throughout the day.

At 3:16 p.m., marked cruisers responded to 555 W. 5th Street to assist Ross County Children’s Services workers during an field intervention. Earlier in the day, at 10:58 a.m., officers successfully defused a potential neighborhood disturbance at 367 Neal Avenue, which was ultimately classified as a non-criminal incident.

Additionally, animal control issues drew a response to 220 Park Street at 4:05 p.m., and night-shift officers responded to a suspicious person complaint at 108 S. Brownell Street at 10:44 p.m., resulting in a criminal trespass warning.

One retail theft call on River Trace Lane at 8:26 a.m. was logged as an error after store loss prevention personnel declined to pursue criminal prosecution due to the low dollar amount of the merchandise involved.

All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Active investigations are ongoing by the Chillicothe Police Department.
