CHILLICOTHE – A man was questioned but not arrested after showing a badge to several people.

According to the Chillicothe Police department, a woman called 911 with the report of a man who had stopped her in the LOWES parking lot (867 North Bridge Street) and had flashed a badge at her, and attempted a traffic stop.

Police sent out a BOLO for the truck and license plate to Ross county and OSP. Shortly after a truck with the descriptions was found and an investigation was started.

The driver said that he did in fact show a badge in the LOWES parking lot but did not identify as a police officer, and showed the badge that said, “Repossession recovery agent” on it. Police asked the man if he worked for a repossession company and he stated he used to but did not now.

Due to the female not wanting to press charges Chillicothe police department let the man go, he did surrender his badge though so he couldn’t use it in the future.
