Chillicothe – Local Man Plays Cat and Mouse with Officer, Gets Caught

Chillicothe, OH, June 13th, 2024 – A routine traffic stop at Sherman Park led to the arrest of a local man and the discovery of drug paraphernalia, according to a report from the Chillicothe Police Department.

Chillicothe Officer initiated the stop on June 13th, 2024, on Watt Street but not until the driver played a little cat and mouse with the police officer. According to the report after the officer got behind the suspect’s vehicle, he turned off without signaling prior to the attempt to stop. The officer then initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle on the lot of Sherman Park after seeing the vehicle pull back out onto
Watt Street once he believed I was out of the area.

Upon approaching the vehicle, the Officer identified the driver as Tyler Estep with a passenger. A LEADS check revealed that Estep was driving under a license forfeiture suspension and had an active warrant for his arrest from the Chillicothe Municipal Court. Additionally, the vehicle’s tags were found to be fictitious, and Estep could not provide proof of ownership.

Due to these violations, the vehicle was towed from the scene. During the inventory search, a glass smoking pipe was discovered in plain view in the center console, which Estep admitted belonged to him.

Estep was subsequently arrested for his outstanding warrant and charged with possession of drug paraphernalia. He was issued citations for driving under suspension (DUS) and using fictitious tags. Estep has been scheduled to appear in Chillicothe Municipal Court on June 17th, 2024, at 9:00 AM.
