CHILLICOTHE CRIME LOG: Multiple Arrests, Assault Outside LEC, and Late-Night Shots Fired Top July 8 Police Blotter

CHILLICOTHE, OH — The Chillicothe Police Department dealt with a packed blotter on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, responding to 22 incidents ranging from daytime thefts and protection order violations to a violent assault outside police headquarters and a late-night shooting investigation.

Here is a breakdown of the key incidents reported by local authorities:

Assault Outside the Police Station & Late-Night Incidents

  • Felonious Assault at the LEC: At 3:55 PM, officers rushed to a disturbance unfolding right outside their own front doors at the Law Enforcement Complex (LEC) on N. Paint Street. A disorderly crowd or individual resulted in an immediate arrest on charges of Felonious Assault, Obstructing Official Business, and Resisting Arrest.
  • Shots Fired Call: Late Wednesday night, at 11:07 PM, units swarmed the 100 block of W. 7th Street after receiving emergency calls regarding shots fired. The initial report lists the offense as Improperly Discharging a Firearm at or Into a Habitation or School. An investigation is actively underway.
  • Domestic Violence: Shortly after the weapons call, at 11:15 PM, police were dispatched to a residence in the 300 block of Brennan Road to handle a violent domestic dispute.

Warrant Arrests & Jail Time Served

Two individuals were taken into custody or processed on outstanding warrants:

  • Tre Valentine Beverly was apprehended at 8:00 PM behind Tiffin Towers at 78 S. Walnut Street. After dispatch confirmed an active warrant, Beverly was transported to the Ross County Jail (RCJ), where he was served a copy of his warrant ordering him to serve 125 days on an original charge of Domestic Violence.
  • Kevin Smith was processed at the Ross County Jail at 9:55 PM. Smith was served a Capias warrant for a probation violation stemming from an original charge of aggravated menacing. He is being held in lieu of bond ahead of a scheduled court appearance.

Property Crimes, Thefts, & Trespassing

Chillicothe businesses and residential areas kept officers moving throughout the day with various property crime calls:

  • Vandalism & Mischief: At 9:53 AM, a criminal mischief complaint was opened on Allen Avenue. Later, just before midnight, officers met a complainant at O’Reilly Auto Parts on N. Bridge Street regarding a vandalism incident that had occurred in the neighboring Gabe’s parking lot.
  • Business Trespassing & Disorderly Conduct: The Par Mar Store (Amoco) at 61 N. Bridge Street called authorities at 10:33 AM to report a criminal trespasser. Later that night, at 11:43 PM, officers were called to the Speedway at 10 N. Bridge Street for a separate trespassing and disorderly conduct complaint.
  • Three Daytime Thefts: Detectives took a phone report for a theft occurring on Consumer Center Drive at 11:38 AM. Later in the afternoon, officers responded to a larceny report in the 250 block of Church Street at 4:51 PM. By 8:14 PM, police were dispatched to the 240 block of Independence Drive for a reported “theft by threat”. All three theft cases remain under active investigation.

Traffic & General Disputes

  • Morning Crash: The day began with a morning traffic accident at 7:52 AM at the intersection of W. 5th Street and S. Paint Street. The driver was cited for failure to control/weaving course, though authorities noted it was a non-injury crash.
  • Harassment & Order Violations: Potential protection order violations were reported twice on Wednesday—first at 9:09 AM on Locust Street, and later at 11:04 PM on Fleet Street. Additionally, a victim walked into the LEC lobby at 2:17 PM to file an official menacing and harassment complaint.

All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Investigations into the majority of these unclosed cases are ongoing by the Chillicothe Police Department.
