Busy Day for Circleville Police: Burglary in Progress, Stolen Vehicle, and Injury Crash Top Wednesday’s Logs

CIRCLEVILLE, OH — The Circleville Police Department handled a wide array of criminal activity and public safety calls on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, ranging from early-morning traffic accidents to a reported burglary in progress during the evening commute.

In total, officers responded to 39 incidents over the 24-hour period.


High-Priority Crimes and Thefts

Property crimes dominated the daytime and evening hours, with several significant reports taken:

  • Burglary in Progress: At 5:24 PM, officers rushed to Town Street on a report of a burglary in progress. A formal report was taken at the scene.
  • Secondary Burglary: Later that evening, at 8:36 PM, another burglary was reported on US Route 23.
  • Stolen Vehicle: Early Wednesday morning (8:21 AM), a vehicle was reported stolen from US Route 23.
  • Thefts and Vandalism: Theft reports were filed following incidents on Lancaster Pike and US 23 South. Additionally, a report of vandalism was taken late Wednesday night on Nicholas Drive.

Traffic and Accidents

The morning commute saw a serious disruption on East Main Street. At 6:24 AM, officers responded to an accident with reported injuries. Following the investigation, at least one citation was issued.

Officers also conducted various traffic enforcement efforts, including a stop on South Pickaway Street and multiple parking complaint investigations on South Washington and East Franklin streets.


Community Safety and Juveniles

Police were called to handle several domestic and social issues throughout the day:

  • Threats/Harassment: A formal report was filed regarding threats made on Lancaster Pike just before 5:00 PM.
  • Unruly Juveniles: Officers took two separate reports involving juvenile complaints—one on John Street and another later in the evening on North Court Street.
  • Well-Being Checks: Police performed four well-being checks across the city. Most were “Checked Okay,” though one on Brookhaven Place resulted in a formal report being filed.

Nighttime Security

The department maintained a heavy presence during the overnight hours, conducting “Extra Patrols” on East Main Street, North Court Street, Imperial Court, East Circle Lane, and Logan Street. All locations were found to be secure.
