On 04/10/2023 the Athens Ohio State Highway Patrol Post received a call of a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of State Route 32 and State Route 143 in Athens County. Upon arriving on scene, it was determined that there was a Ram pickup truck driving westbound on SR 32. A Honda SUV attempted to cross SR 32 coming from State route 143 when the truck struck the small SUV. After contact was made, both vehicles slid off the side of the roadway where they came to final rest.
The Ram pickup truck was being driven by Eloise Burris, age 76 of Vincent. She was flown to grant Medical Center for serious injuries as a result of the crash.
The Honda SUV was being driven by Laurence Zimmerman, age 86 of New Haven. He was flown from the scene to Grant Medical Center for serious injuries as a result of the crash.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted by Athens County EMS, Lee Township Fire Department, and Med Flight.
The crash still remains under investigation at this time.
