Athens County – Mushrooms, Cocaine, and Meth Seized in Trafficking Bust

On May 26, 2023, Athens County Sheriff’s Office Detectives assigned to the Southeast Major Crimes Drug Task Force concluded an investigation into two subjects trafficking narcotics on Rainbow Lake Road, Athens. Detectives identified the subjects based on complaints received from residents in the area and additional information obtained through other investigations. After a thorough investigation, Detectives secured a search warrant which was served by the Athens County Sheriff’s Office Special Response Team.
SRT secured a mobile home and three separate campers on the property.

Detectives conducted interviews with residents, searched the property, and collected numerous items as evidence. Sheriff Smith states “During the search, Detectives seized approximately 3⁄4 pound of suspected methamphetamine, approximately 1⁄2 pound of cocaine, 1⁄4 pound of psilocybin mushrooms, and over $9,000.00 cash.” Detectives also collected numerous items believed to be stolen which had been used to purchase drugs from the suspects. All applicable items will be sent to the lab for testing.
The following were arrested and transported to the Southeastern Ohio Regional Jail.

James Michael Creamer, 53, 11547 Rainbow Lake Road, Athens, was arrested for Trafficking in Methamphetamine (F1), Trafficking in Cocaine (F1), Possession of Methamphetamine (F1), and Possession of Cocaine (F1).

Sandra B. Petrey, 58, 11547 Rainbow Lake Road, Athens, was arrested for Trafficking in Methamphetamine (F1), Trafficking in Cocaine (F1), Possession of Methamphetamine (F1), and Possession of Cocaine (F1).

Requests for other charges will be submitted to the Athens County Prosecutor’s Office for grand jury review.
