CIRCLEVILLE, OH — ArtsaRound, a local non-profit committed to fostering artistic talent, has named Briar Furby, a sophomore at Teays Valley High School, as the recipient of the 2025 Pre-Collegiate Visual Art Scholarship for students in grades 8-11. The announcement was made on May 16, 2025.

As part of the award, Briar will receive fully funded tuition for summer art workshops at the McConnell Arts Center in Worthington and the Columbus College of Art and Design. Additionally, she was presented with a $100 gift card to purchase art supplies, recognizing her outstanding potential.

“The judges were highly impressed with Briar’s portfolio. This young artist has a promising future ahead, and her chosen workshops focusing on drawing figures will further enhance her remarkable skills,” said Dale Herron, co-chair of the ArtsaRound Scholarship Committee.

In her artist statement, Briar shared her passion for her craft, stating, “I like to make the art that I make because it is a representation of who I am as a person and what matters most to me. In my art, I like to feature more personal subjects such as my sister, my dog, or even our vintage car. I do this because it feels like a natural way for me to show appreciation and love towards those that I care about. I find joy in creating things that will share my view of the world with others.” Her art teacher, Jodi Hall, has been instrumental in her development.

The competition also recognized three honorable mentions: Elizabeth Pohlman, a freshman at New Hope Christian Academy; Nathaniel Ames, a junior at New Hope Christian Academy; and Riley Fluhart, a sophomore at Logan Elm High School. Their art teachers, Harley Casey (NHCA) and Heath Bennett (LEHS), have guided their talents. Each received a $50 gift card for art supplies.

Founded in 2001, ArtsaRound is dedicated to supporting artists and the arts in Pickaway County and the surrounding region.
