TARLTON, Ohio — Residents and visitors are invited to celebrate America’s 250th anniversary with a full day of family-friendly activities, live entertainment, local vendors, and community fellowship during the Tarlton America 250 Celebration on Saturday, July 11.
The event is part of the statewide Ohio’s Homecoming & Picnic Signature Program, an initiative of America 250-Ohio that encourages communities across the state to gather throughout 2026 to honor the people, places, and stories that have shaped Ohio and the nation over the past 250 years.
Set in one of Pickaway County’s oldest communities, the celebration will take place throughout the village of Tarlton, which was founded in 1801 by Benjamin Newell. Organizers say the event is designed to highlight the village’s rich history while bringing together residents, former residents, and visitors for a day of hometown pride and community connection.
Activities will begin at noon with vendors, community displays, and children’s activities running throughout the afternoon. Families will have the opportunity to explore local booths, enjoy food vendors, and participate in a variety of activities designed for all ages.
One of the featured attractions will be the Tractor Show and Parade at 2 p.m., showcasing antique and modern farm equipment while celebrating the agricultural heritage that has long been a cornerstone of the region.
Live music will take center stage from 4 p.m. until 10 p.m., providing entertainment into the evening hours. Visitors will also have the opportunity to bid on vintage Tarlton signs and memorabilia during a special auction highlighting pieces of the village’s history.
The celebration coincides with nationwide observances marking the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence in 1776. Communities across Ohio are hosting events throughout the year to commemorate the milestone and strengthen local connections through shared experiences and historical reflection.
Organizers encourage attendees to bring lawn chairs and spend the day enjoying small-town hospitality, local history, food, and entertainment.
