CHILLICOTHE, OH — The Chillicothe Police Department handled 16 reported incidents on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, ranging from a series of trespassing complaints to domestic disputes and a non-suspicious death investigation.

Trespassing and Disorderly Conduct

Local businesses and churches were the focus of several calls throughout the day. Officers were dispatched to the BP Oil station on Safford Avenue at 7:40 AM regarding a trespassing issue. Later that morning, around 11:40 AM, police responded to the First Baptist Church on West Fourth Street for a similar complaint. A juvenile-related trespassing report was also filed at Yoctangee Parkway.

Disorderly conduct calls kept officers moving in the afternoon, with responses to Western Avenue and the intersection of Riverside and North Mulberry Streets.

Death Investigation and Public Safety

At 12:33 PM, officers conducted a welfare check at an apartment on North Paint Street. Upon entry, they discovered a deceased individual. While the department has labeled the death as “non-suspicious” at this time, an investigation remains pending.

Other public safety calls included:

  • Dog Bite: Officers responded to West 6th Street at 4:29 PM to investigate a dog bite incident; that investigation is ongoing.
  • Criminal Mischief: A complaint regarding defaced or tampered property on West Water Street was filed just after noon.
  • Theft: A report of theft “without consent” was taken on Pickens Avenue at 6:19 PM.

Traffic Accidents and Warrants

The day began and ended with traffic-related issues. Early Tuesday morning, a crash report was filed involving a driver with a suspended license.

In a notable evening incident, Jovan Ojeda was contacted by officers following a traffic accident handled by the Ohio State Highway Patrol. Despite suffering a neck injury in the crash, Ojeda was served a summons for an outstanding warrant related to a previous Failure to Appear (FTA) charge. He is scheduled to appear in court on April 30.

Domestic Disputes

Domestic calls peaked in the late evening hours. Officers responded to a report on South Brownell Street where a male was reportedly “beating on a door,” followed by a Domestic Violence call on McKeller Street just before midnight.

In total, the 16 records from Tuesday reflect a steady stream of calls for service as the department maintains its patrol across the city.
