Chillicothe Police Log: OVI Arrest Following Crash and Multiple Theft Investigations Highlight Wednesday Patrols

CHILLICOTHE, OH — The Chillicothe Police Department stayed busy on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, handling a late-night crash involving an impaired driver and a string of thefts at local businesses and residences.

In total, the department filed 19 official reports throughout the day.


OVI and Traffic Enforcement

Late-night safety was a primary focus for officers following a motor vehicle accident on the city’s south side:

  • Crash and OVI: At 11:02 PM, officers were dispatched to the intersection of East 8th Street and South Bridge Street for a crash. The investigation led to an OVI charge and a citation for failure to control.
  • Suspended Driver: Earlier in the day (11:53 AM), a traffic stop on Church Street near Arch Street resulted in an arrest for a warrant and driving under an OVI-related suspension.
  • Aggressive Driving: Officers also issued citations for “squealing tires” and “cracked exhaust noise” on Eastern Avenue, alongside several speeding tickets on East Main Street.

Theft and Fraud Reports

Larceny was a major theme for the mid-week shift, with detectives opening several new cases:

  • Walmart Theft: At 4:24 PM, police responded to the River Trace Lane Walmart regarding a theft without consent.
  • Pub Larceny: Officers were called to Patrick’s Pub on North Plaza Blvd just before 8:00 PM for a theft report.
  • Identity Fraud: A resident visited the Law Enforcement Center lobby at 9:55 AM to report a case of identity fraud originating on Washington Avenue.
  • Residential Thefts: Additional theft investigations were launched following calls to North Bridge Street, Adams Avenue, and East 5th Street.

Disorderly Conduct and Trespassing

Police handled several volatile situations involving disputes and unwanted guests:

  • Domestic Dispute: Close to 11:00 PM, units were dispatched to Beechwood Street to mediate a domestic dispute, resulting in a disorderly conduct report.
  • Active Disorderly: Earlier in the afternoon, a “Code 2” emergency response was triggered for an active disorderly person on South Renick Avenue.
  • McArthur Gardens Trespass: Officers responded to a trespassing complaint at 1049 McArthur Gardens (Columbus Street) late Wednesday night.

City Maintenance

The department also addressed local “quality of life” issues, including a parking complaint on North Hickory Street near 2nd Street and an “obstructing intersection” citation on East Main Street.
