Chillicothe Police Investigate Crashes, Theft, and Disorderly Conduct on Feb. 5

CHILLICOTHE, OH (Feb. 6, 2026) — Chillicothe Police officers responded to a series of incidents on Wednesday, February 5, including traffic crashes, theft investigations, traffic violations, and disorderly conduct calls, according to the department’s daily media report.

Shortly after 2:15 a.m., officers were dispatched to the Pilot Travel Center on East Main Street for a hit-skip crash that occurred on private property. The incident involved a vehicle leaving the scene of an accident, and the investigation remains ongoing.

Later that morning, around 8:39 a.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop near Water Street and Paint Street, resulting in a citation for driving while texting.

In the afternoon, police responded to a reported breaking and entering on Vine Street. Officers determined the incident involved a theft, and a report was taken. No further information was released.

At approximately 3:02 p.m., officers were called to the JC Penney location on North Bridge Street for a crash involving a failure to yield the right of way while turning left. That investigation is continuing.

Additional calls included disorderly conduct and welfare check responses on Whaley Place and East Main Street later in the afternoon. Police say those incidents remain under investigation.

During a traffic stop around 5:26 p.m., an officer observed a vehicle with an expired registration traveling near South Sugar Street. The driver, identified as Charles Kennedy, was issued a citation for expired registration. The vehicle was subsequently towed, and the driver was advised of a scheduled court appearance on February 20, 2026.

In the evening hours, officers responded to theft-related calls at Rural King on North Bridge Street and a disorderly conduct complaint at Dunham Sports. Both incidents remain under investigation.

In total, Chillicothe Police documented nine separate incidents during the reporting period.
