LOGAN, Ohio — The Logan Police Department is investigating the deaths of two individuals discovered Monday morning during a welfare check in the city’s Dicken Addition neighborhood.
According to police, officers were called at approximately 10:24 a.m. on Dec. 22 after receiving a request to check on a woman at a residence in the area. Officers knocked and announced their presence several times but received no response. A family member at the scene informed officers that the door to the home was unlocked.
Due to concerns for the occupants’ safety, officers entered the residence and immediately found an adult male lying on the floor in the living room. Further inspection revealed an adult female lying in the kitchen. Both individuals were pronounced dead at the scene. A firearm was found near the male.
Detectives with the Logan Police Department and the Hocking County Coroner’s Office processed the scene. The bodies were transported to the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office, where autopsies will be conducted to determine the cause and manner of death.
The identities of the individuals have not been released as authorities work to notify next of kin. Police said the investigation remains ongoing, but based on evidence found at the scene, there is no immediate threat to the public.
Additional information will be released as it becomes available.
