
CHILLICOTHE — The Chillicothe Police Department responded to 24 calls for service on Friday, August 15, including thefts, disorderly conduct complaints, and two separate suspicious death investigations.
Early Morning Activity
The day began with a midnight traffic stop on Belleview Avenue that resulted in a warrant check. Around 7:30 a.m., officers responded to a property damage call on Laurel Street involving a possible violation of a protection order.
Multiple traffic stops were conducted through the morning, including two citations for texting while driving on East Water Street near Mulberry.
Child Services & CPS Referrals
Detectives opened investigations based on referrals from Child Protective Services, including one on Mechanic Street and another involving an ex-parte custody request on North Brownell Street.
Suspicious Death Investigations
At 10:22 a.m., detectives were contacted regarding a possible suspicious death, which remains under investigation. Later that evening, around 7:08 p.m., officers were called to Yoctangee Parkway at the Catherine and Holden Corzine Memorial Dog Park in reference to a reported deceased individual. That case is also under investigation.
Afternoon & Evening Incidents
Officers handled several disorderly conduct complaints, including incidents on East 2nd and East Main streets. A theft was reported at Rural King on North Bridge Street, another at a residence on East Main Street, and a bike theft connected to West 2nd Street near Carl’s Townhouse. Later, a vehicle theft was reported outside Chillicothe Municipal Court.
Additional calls included a trespassing complaint on South Douglas Avenue, a theft complaint at Kroger on North Bridge Street, and a disorderly incident on Fairway Avenue.
Warrants Served
In the evening, officers also served five active warrants at the Ross County Jail.
Several of the day’s cases, including the suspicious deaths and thefts, remain under investigation.
