
CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — Chillicothe police responded to a variety of calls on Wednesday, July 31, 2025, involving arrests, disturbances, thefts, and other public safety concerns across the city.
At 5:26 a.m., officers arrested Ivan Smallwood at the Law Enforcement Complex on two active warrants. He was transferred to the Ross County Jail without incident.
Later that morning, police responded to a shoplifting complaint on River Trace Lane around 9:06 a.m. The case remains under investigation. At 9:50 a.m., another possible theft was reported at the Law Enforcement Complex. That case is also pending further review.
At 10:34 a.m., a disorderly conduct incident involving a threat was reported at the Law Enforcement Complex. Three minutes later, at 10:37 a.m., officers were dispatched to 102 King Street in response to a fight, which led to the discovery of an outstanding warrant.
A report involving a suicidal subject came in from Capital Drive at 11:07 a.m., while at 11:51 a.m., police responded to Cleveland Avenue regarding a request from Children Services involving an ex-parte order.
In the afternoon, criminal mischief was reported at Sherman Park after a resident stated her vehicle had been egged. The case is under investigation.
At 4:14 p.m., officers responded to Commache Road for a child removal situation involving Children Services. That same evening, at McArthur Gardens on Columbus Street, police investigated a threats complaint tied to disorderly conduct.
Additional calls included a domestic situation at 302 Harold Drive, a criminal trespass and assault reported at Planet Fitness on North Bridge Street, and a 911 hang-up at 757 Madison Avenue.
The final report of the night came in at 10:11 p.m. when police responded to a disturbance on South Brownell Street. The investigation into the disorderly conduct remains ongoing.
In total, Chillicothe officers handled 14 incidents throughout the day.
