Ross County Emergency Homeless Shelter Secures Location for Winter

ROSS – The Ross County Emergency Homeless Shelter is an extreme weather emergency homeless shelter that is in operation 8pm – 8am any time the weather is below 30 degrees. They Also transportation in the Chillicothe area.

Yesterday they posted on social media, “The Ross County Emergency Homeless Shelter is in DESPARATE need of a facility to get us through the winter months! We have some severe weather approaching over the next several weeks. We are trying to find a facility where those who have found themselves displaced from housing can sleep out of the weather at night. We do have minimal funding at this time for somone who has a building that could adequately support this shelter.”

That desperate need was quickly answered by Zion Baptist Church in Chillicothe.

Ross Emergency Homeless has now released those details and is offering homeless a warm place to sleep ay 536 Mill Street in Chillicothe, in the basement of the Church. This is a overnight emergency shelter. The shelter also is offering pick up locations every 30 minutes at

  • Yoctangee Park Armory
  • Valero, South Paint Street
  • Strawser Park
  • Speedway
  • Also additional pick ups are available if you message the facebook page.

The shelter is open when temperature is below 32 degrees for a majority of the day.
