CIRCLEVILLE, OH — A woman under investigation for a fatal hit-and-run in January was arrested this week in Circleville following a traffic stop, according to a report released by the Circleville Police Department on Saturday, May 22, 2025, at 09:30 AM EDT. Melissa Fullen was apprehended after an officer observed her driving erratically, leading to the stop.

During the traffic stop, the officer determined Fullen was under the influence. A subsequent search of her vehicle uncovered drugs, resulting in charges for driving under the influence (DUI) and felony drug possession. Fullen was taken into custody and is awaiting further legal proceedings.

The investigation ties back to a January 15, 2025, incident where Fullen, driving a 2011 red Chevrolet Aveo southbound on Washington Ave near Pearl Ave, struck and killed 58-year-old Mark Crawford of Lancaster. Police reported that Crawford, a pedestrian, was walking outside a crosswalk, crossing Washington Street westward toward Pearl Ave, when he was hit. Crawford was transported to Berger Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. Fullen was also taken to the hospital following the crash. Circleville investigators have been probing the fatal incident since then, and this latest arrest could add new developments to the ongoing case.
