CHILLICOTHE, OH — A local woman was arrested Monday evening after employees at a North Bridge Street McDonald’s found her passed out near the restrooms while openly holding a bag containing a hypodermic syringe.

Chillicothe Police Officers Justin Depugh and Kight responded to the restaurant at 40 N. Bridge Street at approximately 7:21 p.m. on May 18, 2026, after receiving an urgent call from management regarding a customer “nodding off” inside the business.

Uncapped Syringes in Plain View

According to police supplemental narratives, officers arrived and spoke with McDonald’s manager Nathan Fyffe, who directed them to the rear corner of the dining area near the restrooms. There, officers located a woman slumped over and leaning against the wall, seemingly unconscious.

Before waking her, officers observed that she was holding a small cloth bag in plain view, which visibly contained a hypodermic syringe.

As officers made contact, the woman woke up and identified herself as Taylor Looney. Officers immediately confiscated the cloth bag from her hands, noting that the syringes inside were uncapped. Looney was safely secured in handcuffs behind her back for officer safety.

Confession to Methamphetamine Use

After Officer Kight read Looney her Miranda rights, she agreed to speak with the responding units.

When questioned about when she had last used the seized syringe, Looney reportedly admitted to officers that she had used it the day prior. Furthermore, she openly stated that she used the hypodermic syringe to administer methamphetamine, specifically referring to the drug as “ice,” to herself.

Banned from the Premises and Summonsed

At the request of the restaurant’s management, Looney was formally issued a criminal trespass warning and barred from the 40 N. Bridge Street McDonald’s property. Officers explicitly advised her that if she steps foot on the premises again, she will face immediate arrest for criminal trespass.

Because she co-operated and did not have outstanding warrants, Looney was not transported to the county jail. Instead, she was arrested on the scene, issued a legal summons for possession of a drug abuse instrument, and released.

Looney is ordered to appear in Chillicothe Municipal Court on Friday, May 22, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. to face the misdemeanor charge. The two confiscated syringes were photographed for evidence and safely disposed of in a biohazard sharps container.
