WAVERLY, OH — Waverly residents are being urged to refrain from using water for drinking or cooking after the village experienced multiple significant water leaks over the past few days, severely affecting its water storage system.
As of 9:50 AM on January 27, 2024, the entire village is under a “Do Not Use” water advisory. While crews continue to work on isolating and repairing a major leak, residents are advised not to use water for any purpose, even after boiling, until further notice.
The advisory affects nearly all residents, with a few exceptions:
- Saint Mary’s Ln.
- Saint Anthony’s Ln.
- Saint Ann’s Lane
- Grandview Ave.
- Little Flower Court
- Ramey Court
- Residences on the hill near Waverly City Schools
- Emmett Station Apartments
Officials have stated that critical facilities like hospitals, nursing homes, and dialysis centers are permitted to use water only after boiling it for at least one minute.
The water issues have also led to the early dismissal of schools in the area to ensure student safety.
Local authorities are working diligently to repair the leak and restore normal water usage as soon as possible. The community is asked to remain patient and follow the “Do Not Use” order to help ensure the safety and well-being of all residents.
Stay tuned for further updates, and thank you for your cooperation during this ongoing situation.
