Vehicle Nearly Strikes State Trooper, Leads Multiple Jurisdictions on Police Chase Over Memorial Day Weekend

CIRCLEVILLE – The troopers from the Circleville Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol were active and aggressive during the four day travel weekend for the Memorial Day Holiday.

On Saturday, May 26th, a Circleville Post trooper attempted to stop a vehicle on the eastern edge of the City of Circleville for almost striking him head on. A pursuit ensued out SR-56E into Hocking County where it ended after the Logan Police Department stop-sticked the vehicle flattening two of its tires. This resulted in the driver, Jeremy Lee Brickles, 34, being arrested for Felony OVI, Parole Violation, and two misdemeanor warrants out for his arrest. The Circleville Post was also assisted by the Circleville Police Department in the beginning stages of the pursuit. The chargest for Mr. Brickles, as per the Pickaway County Jail is as follows:

He is expected to be arraigned by the Pickaway Municipal Court on June 6th.

As per the Pickaway County Post of the Ohio State Patrol – “Mandated coverage was implemented during the holiday weekend to increase visibility as well as taking enforcement action on unsafe driving behavior” said Lieutenant Steven K. Herron, Circleville Post Commander. “Our troopers were committed to working the roadways during this past holiday weekend to ensure motorists made it to their destination safely and able to enjoy time with their families.”

Circleville Post troopers are responsible for covering roadways in Pickaway County, a 16 mile stretch of IR-71, and also assist with the southern portion of Franklin County. During this past four day travel weekend, Circleville Post troopers made 927 traffic stops, issued 188 seatbelt citations, issued 3 child restraint citations, made 37 impaired driving arrests, made 10 felony drug arrests, made 14 misdemeanor drug arrests, made 1 felony warrant arrest, made 5 misdemeanor warrant arrests, and assisted 88 disabled motorists.
