LOGAN, Ohio — The Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Athens Post, alongside the Logan Police Department and the Hocking County Sheriff’s Office, will conduct an OVI (Operating Vehicle Impaired) sobriety checkpoint tonight on West Hunter Street in the City of Logan.
The checkpoint is scheduled to run from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Funded through federal grant dollars, the operation aims to deter impaired driving and remove unsafe drivers from local roadways.
To boost effectiveness, law enforcement will pair the checkpoint with nearby saturation patrols to target impaired driver-related crashes and prevent serious injuries or fatalities.
“If you plan to consume alcohol, designate a driver or make other travel arrangements before you drink,” the Patrol advised in a statement. “Don’t let another life be lost for the senseless and selfish act of getting behind the wheel impaired.”
Motorists who spot suspected impaired or reckless drivers are urged to call #677 to connect directly to the nearest Ohio State Highway Patrol post.
