Pickaway County –  A position for Circleville City Council was posted this month after former Circleville Mayor Don Mcllroy who was elected to the 2nd ward seat sent in a letter of resignation.

In order to apply, the candidate must be a “qualified” Republican voter and a resident of Circleville’s Second Ward.

Since then three candidates that live in the ward have come forward to fill the seat. Caryn Koch-Esterline who filled the seat previously but, did not run in the last election, John Moats, and Ginger Wright.

Mike Whitten, Pickaway County Republican Party chair, told Sciotopost that the decision on who fills the vacancy will come down to Barry Keller and Caryn Koch-Esterline, who serve as the Second Ward representatives on the central committee, to choose a replacement. If they do not agree on one of the candidates then the decision will move to Circleville Council where the candidates will be interviewed in a special session and then voted on by the full council.
