Athens – A teen died after falling from a patio authorities reported on Sunday
According to Athens law enforcement, On Sunday, May 21, 2023, at 10:02 a.m., OUPD responded to a lower-level patio outside of Baker Center for a report of an unresponsive male. OUPD and APD officers arrived on the scene and found 15-year-old Landon Gibson unconscious with visible head injuries possibly resulting from a fall.
Landon was transported by Athens County EMS to O’Bleness Memorial Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
While at this time the department has no information to suggest foul play, our investigation is ongoing. Anyone who communicated with Landon in the hours leading up to Sunday morning is asked to contact OUPD Det. Rick Sargent at 740-593-1911.
