Speed Appears to be a Factor in Fatality in Pike County Today

Waverly – The Chillicothe Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a one vehicle crash that occurred on Wilson Run Road in Pike County at approximately 1:41 P.M. on June 18, 2019.  A 1997 Chevrolet Blazer, driven by David L. Nelson, 49, of Waverly, Ohio, was traveling south on Wilson Run Road when it traveled off the right side of the roadway and struck a tree. Mr. Nelson was transported to OSU Wexner Medical Center, Columbus, Ohio for his injuries. The passenger, Cynthia J. Wyant, 47, of Waverly, succumbed to her injuries at the scene. 



   

Speed appears to be a factor and the crash which remains under investigation. Mr. Nelson’s condition is not known at the time of this release.

Pike County Sheriff’s Department, Pike County EMS, Portsmouth Ambulance, and Pee Pee TWP FD assisted on scene.
