CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — A argument over parking at a local gas station escalated into a physical confrontation early Tuesday morning, resulting in a semi-truck driver being pepper-sprayed and barred from the property.
At approximately 2:20 a.m. on Tuesday, November 3, Chillicothe Police officers were dispatched to the Pilot Travel Center at 1111 East Main Street following reports of a disorderly customer.
According to police reports, the driver, identified as Quentin Ladarius Henderson, told officers he had been sleeping in his semi-truck in the rear lot when a security officer, Blake Angeletti, woke him and asked him to leave the premises.
Henderson stated that while attempting to depart, he parked near the rear of the building and went inside the store to purchase coffee. Once inside, employees informed Henderson that the business was revoking his service and ordering him to leave, prompting a verbal dispute.
Witnesses and store staff, including Angeletti and an employee, provided a different account to responding officers. They reported that Henderson entered the store shouting profanities at the security officer. When informed that he would not be served and needed to clear the property immediately, Henderson reportedly became irate and advanced toward the security officer in an aggressive manner.
In response to the advancing driver, Angeletti deployed a stream of pepper spray, which successfully halted the confrontation. Officers noted in their report that the security officer acted in self-defense and in defense of the store.
The Pilot station manager requested that Henderson be formally barred from the property. Officers issued a trespass notice to Henderson, who was treated at the scene and departed without further incident.
