CIRCLEVILLE, Ohio — After nearly a decade of serving as a Downtown Circleville staple and a self-described “safe space for all people,” Moonstone Circle has announced it will shut the doors to its physical retail storefront this July.
Owners Libby, Justin, and their beloved shop dog MoJo shared the emotional announcement with the community, noting that while the brick-and-mortar era is coming to an end, the business is transitioning online rather than closing down completely.
“The decision was not made lightly,” the ownership team shared in a statement to their patrons. “But many factors have contributed—namely increased rent, utilities, and decreased sales over the past three years. You customers are the reason we held on to the shop for so long.”
A History of Healing and Unique Finds
Moonstone Circle first opened its doors in Downtown Circleville back in 2017, generating local buzz for its unique dual-purpose business model.
Over its nine-year run, the shop built a loyal following by blending holistic wellness services—such as therapeutic, prenatal, and couples massages, alongside Reiki energy sessions—with a boutique retail experience. Visitors frequently dropped in to browse its eclectic inventory of Himalayan salt lamps, essential oils, scented bath soaps, crystals, and specialized gifts.
The owners expressed deep pride in the business they cultivated, emphasizing their long-standing mission to offer quality products at a fair price and to treat every visitor with genuine kindness.
Moving to the Digital Front: Pop-Ups and New Chapters
The team stress that this transition is a reinvention, not a permanent farewell. Moonstone Circle will continue to operate through its official website and social media channels. The owners also plan to eventually take the business on the road, bringing their unique inventory directly to local festivals, county fairs, and artisan markets via community pop-up shops.
“Our goal is to get back to the basics—reinvent, relax, and renew,” the team stated. “We are excited for this new chapter of our journey.” They also noted that they are holding onto some of their equipment and inventory because their long-term dream includes reopening a physical location somewhere down the road.
Progressive Moving Sales and ‘Moonbucks’ Details
Before the keys are handed back, Moonstone Circle will spend the next two months liquidating a large portion of its physical inventory and select store fixtures.
- The Timeline: The shop plans to remain open seven days a week through the month of June. The first couple of weeks in July will be used to host final sales and pack up “nine years of memories.” An official final day of operations will be locked in soon.
- The Discounts: Progressive discounts will roll out across remaining inventory over the coming weeks. Select store displays and fixtures will also be posted for sale on the shop’s social media pages.
- The ‘Moonbucks’ Policy: The shop’s signature customer rewards program, Moonbucks, is staying active. Customers can spend them in-store until the physical doors close, or redeem them online anytime. However, during the final week of business, the owners request that Moonbucks not be combined with the deepest store-wide discounts (30%–35% off) to ensure the small business doesn’t absorb catastrophic financial losses on the items.
The owners are inviting the community to stop by the downtown storefront one last time this June to share a final laugh, swap memories, and browse the shelves before the move.
“We will never forget your kindness, humor, and support,” the owners shared. “It isn’t goodbye… it is just see you later.”
