Ross & Jackson Counties — The Ross County Grand Jury returned all seven of their cases on Friday, May 10th, with two open for release to the public. From testimony in the the grand jury in one of the cases, according to the Ross County Prosecutor’s Office:
On April 3rd, a woman reported to the Wellston Police Department that her car was stolen while she was delivering a pizza. The Ohio Highway Patrol located the vehicle in Ross County, and they and Ross County Sheriff’s officers started pursuit on US 35 near US 50.
It is not documented that it was a high speed chase, but officers deployed stop sticks on US 23 / 35 near Main Street, which made contact and slowed down the vehicle…but the driver then headed eastbound slowly, the wrong way in westbound lanes, of the freeway.
38-year-old Taylor Rajeen Harrison of Cleveland was eventually stopped and detained.
The pizza had been delivered to a residence in Wellston. The resident said he was unaware of the pizza delivery and car theft by Harrison, who had visited the residence before. He said he was buying Reese’s Cups at a nearby Dollar General at the time. Harrison’s cell phone number had been used to make the pizza order.
For indictments on third-degree felony failure to comply and fourth-degree receiving stolen property, Harrison could get a total of up to 4 1/2 years and $15,000 in fines.
She continues to be held in custody in the Ross County Jail.
