CHILLICOTHE, Ohio – A disturbance on E Second Street in Chillicothe escalated into a physical altercation requiring police intervention on the evening of May 14, 2024. Two Deputies were, dispatched to assist the City Police Department, who arrived on the scene to quell the disturbance and aid in arrests.
The incident unfolded at approximately 9:27 PM when officers responded to reports of a fight. Upon arrival, the Deputy, alongside Chillicothe Police Officers, encountered a volatile scene with multiple individuals engaged in a heated confrontation. Tensions escalated as officers attempted to maintain control, prompting additional law enforcement support.
The Deputy recounted being assaulted during the melee, indicating that he was choked from behind by an assailant to the point of passing out. Despite efforts to subdue him, the situation remained volatile as multiple subjects resisted arrest and continued to agitate officers.
Amid the chaos, the Deputy identified a 17-year-old female, subsequently apprehended for assaulting the Deputy. However, attempts to arrest her were met with resistance from associates who sought to shield her from law enforcement and helped her escape to a home nearby. The scene further deteriorated as individuals inside a nearby residence interfered with law enforcement efforts, prompting additional intervention to maintain order. The minor female was arrested and taken to JVC. Along with a male who resisted arrest and was also taken to the ground to be handcuffed, he was later transported to the hospital. So far his name has not been released.
Following the altercation, the Deputy sought medical attention at Adena Regional Medical Center, citing injuries sustained during the altercation including breathing issues, back/neck pain, and arm pain. He was later transferred to Grant Hospital for further evaluation.
Meanwhile, law enforcement officials remained on-site, ensuring the situation was contained and addressing any outstanding concerns.
