CHILLICOTHE, OH — Authorities are investigating an early morning robbery that occurred at the BP gas station located at 741 Safford Avenue on Tuesday, May 6, 2025. Officers were dispatched to the scene around 2:57 a.m. following a report of an armed suspect entering the business and demanding money.

When officers arrived, they found the gas station locked down. An employee let officers inside, where they quickly secured the premises by taping off the entrance to prevent further access. Inside, officers interviewed two employees, one of whom had been in the back room during the incident and did not witness the robbery. The other employee provided a voluntary written statement.

According to that statement, the witness had been sitting in the office doorway eating lunch around 2:45 a.m. when he noticed a man in a gray hoodie and dark sweatpants pacing in front of the store while smoking a cigarette. The man later entered the store, now also wearing dark gloves and a navy-blue mask, and began demanding money from the staff.

The suspect is described as a male, approximately 5’8″ tall, dressed in dark clothing with his face concealed. There were no immediate reports of injuries.

Sgt. Taczak contacted Detective Christopher Fyffe, who responded to the scene shortly after and took over the investigation. As of now, no arrests have been made and no further suspect information has been released.

The investigation remains ongoing. Authorities have not confirmed whether surveillance footage was recovered or if the suspect fled on foot or by vehicle.

Anyone with information regarding the incident is urged to contact local law enforcement.
