Dolores F. “Lory” Henson, 82, of Circleville, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, July 14, 2015, at Berger Hospital.
She was born April 18, 1933, in Akron, the daughter of the late Thomas J. and Frances Irma (Weiss) Maguire.
Lory was a graduate of Kenmore High School and was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. A shy lady with a beautiful smile, Lory was a talented seamstress and great cook who liked trying international recipes before it became a popular thing to do. She had an eye for decorating, was financially saavy and interested in politics.
She loved being a grandmother and shopping for clothes for her grandchildren. She and her daughter, Colleen, had enjoyed taking a memorable trip to Europe, where they were able to meet relatives and learn the history of the family.
Lory was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Carl Cunningham; sisters, Marie Rutkowski and Anne Phillips; and brothers, Thomas, James, Phillip, Robert and Hubert “Mick” Maguire.
She is survived by her loving husband of 37 years, Frank L. Henson; son, Robert (Gail) Cunningham; daughter, Colleen (Richard Redfern) Cunningham; step-children, David Ray (LaBrenda) Henson, Jane (Douglas) Cook and Mark (Elise) Henson; grandchildren, Carl M. Cunningham, Jacob H., Caleb L., Isaac S. and Josephine B. Redfern and Steve and Karen Cook.
Friends may call from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, July 19, 2015, at Defenbaugh-Wise-Schoedinger Funeral Home, where a wake service will be held at 3 p.m. A service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, July 20, 2015, in the Ivy Chapel at Greenlawn Cemetery, Akron, with burial to follow.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to a charity of choice.
