Lavina E. Patterson, age 92, formerly of Williamsport, passed away on Tuesday, June 23, 2015, at Riverside Methodist Hospital.
Lavina was a school teacher for 35 years. She was also active in the Circleville Senior Center and a member of Good Shepard Lutheran Church in Washington Court House.
Lavina loved to travel and had visited most of the United States. She also loved people, she volunteered for many organizations, including an Indian reservation, while travelling the nation.
Lavina is preceded in death by her husband, Benton W. Patterson; her parents, Robert and Julia Piper; and brothers, Captain Prescott Piper and Robert Allyn Piper.
She is survived by her children, Linda (Larry) Reid and Michael (Doneeta) Patterson; grandchildren, Robin (Andy) Bennett, Miki Lynn (Aaron) Bowling, Brian (Bethany) Reid and Shelley (Doug) Stonerock; 11 great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren; brother, Kenneth (Norma) Piper; sister, Loraine Brown; and several nieces, nephews and friends.
Family will greet friends from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, June 26, 2015, at Porter-Tidd Funeral Home, 331 W. Main St., Mt. Sterling. A funeral service will follow, starting at 7 p.m. on Friday. Lavina will be laid to rest at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 27, 2015, at Greenlawn Cemetery, Frankfort.
